Monzeki temple (Imperial temple) with beautiful gardens and spectacular night illuminations. Large camphor trees at entrance. Blue LED light installations during special illuminations create mystical atmosphere. Sliding door paintings. Near Chion-in and Maruyama Park.

Entrance: 500 yen, illuminations 800 yen
Hours: 9:00 AM - 5:00 PM (last entry 4:30 PM)

Best Time to Visit

Night illuminations (spring March-May, autumn October-December) with blue LED lights absolutely magical. Autumn foliage good. Cherry blossoms in spring. Less crowded than nearby temples.
