Mountain temple north of Kyoto, legendary training ground of Minamoto no Yoshitsune. Main hall has cosmic power spot. Beautiful hiking trail over mountain to Kifune Shrine (2 hours). Fall foliage spectacular. Remote peaceful location. Cable car option available.

Visit: 1.5-2 hours (4 hours if hiking to Kifune)
Entrance: 300 yen, cable car additional 200 yen one-way
Hours: 9:00 AM - 4:30 PM (last entry 4:15 PM)

  2. 2 From Kurama Station: 5 min walk to temple entrance, then steep climb or cable car
  3. 3 Cable car available (200 yen) to shorten climb
  4. 4 Hiking trail over mountain to Kifune Shrine (2 hours, moderate)
