Katsura Imperial Villa
桂離宮
Considered the pinnacle of Japanese architecture and garden design, built 1615-1662 by Prince Hachijo Toshihito and his son. Its strolling garden with tea houses and the shoin-style buildings influenced modern architecture worldwide. Bruno Taut called it "the most Japanese of Japanese buildings."
